When it comes to a civil/humanist ceremony you can make the ceremony as musical as you'd like. Some couples have songs from the beginning of their relationship right up to the journey of marriage that they may like to include in the ceremony that hold sentimental meaning to them.

For Church Ceremonies there are different parts of the mass where you can have non-liturgical songs, these would be your popular music choices. Moments where you can choose to have non-litgurical songs are the Bridal Processional, Signing of the Register and the Couples Recessional. At times during the mass there is opportunity for non-liturgical songs but this is to the discretion of your priest.

If you are having 2 ring boys/flower girls and up to 3/4 in your wedding party, you will need two songs so that everyone has time to make it to the top of the aisle without needing to run.

This song is used twice in your ceremony, the first time when you both light your singular candles, for this I woud sing a minute/minute and a half of the song, this gives you time to light the candles, sit back down and take a moment.
The second time I aim to sing the full song, again this is so you have time to light the candle, sit with one another and take a moment to let everything sink in.
